Our Students Blogging about Global Warming

Mary Takasaka, Des Belton, and I are collaborating on a reading and writing project with the students about global warming and its affect on polar habitats. Other teachers are joining this project daily. Check out this apropos new release from Raffi and the David Suzuki Foundation on the YouTube clip above, or go to their websites by clicking on the links.
The students use their laptops to learn new information about penguins and other polar animals using a variety of sources, including YouTube. Then, each student will set-up their own blog where they will post a piece of writing to communicate about what they learned from their research. They will also include a clip they sourced from YouTube in the posting. Students will self-assess their reading and writing work with the Ministry of Education’s Performance Standards.
