Krista Francis-Poscente

If you attended our district’s Summer Institute on Numeracy then you will remember Krista’s workshop on Day 3 about problem solving. She was enthralled by her brief tour of the lava beds and the tree mold along with the history and legends that Diana Smith was sharing with her. She wrote to let us know that

The Valley is calling for an investigation into volcanoes. Not many students have the opportunity to walk on lava beds. The stories about the volcanoes are amazing too. The combination of science, history and myth would be powerful. If any of your teachers would like help planning with a volcano
investigation, I would be happy to help via email and phone.

Send back a comment to this blog post and I will put you in touch with her!

Wonderful, I fully agree! The resources in the area are many it would be a waste if we don’t capture the uniqueness. I would be interested in any development.
