December 6 is the 18th anniversary of the Montreal Massacre. This is a time to remember that we have a responsibility as teachers, family members, friends and colleagues to raise awareness of all the ways that violence against women sneaks into our community culture.
You can make a difference by simply wearing a white ribbon, or taking the time to read a little more about the issue. Check out this link to the CBC archives to see how the Montreal Massacre ignited a renewed movement against this form of violence, and the link to lesson plans to help you start this conversation in your classes.
